Fiesta, King William's Fair 2009 : History In 1967, the King William Association was chartered as a non-profit corporation to preserve the oldest historic district in the state of Texas and to promote the unique cultural heritage of San Antonio. To further that mission, the Association hosted its first Fair in 1968. Since then, the Fair has grown from a one-block arts exhibit to a major Fiesta event. Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and thousands of Fair-goers, the Fair raises funds for arts, education, and community improvements.

SandFest has become the largest Master Sand Sculpting Competition in the US!!!! SandFest is three days, with five different competitions. Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner 2008, San Antonio, TX : The Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner has been responsible for feeding thousands of homeless people, senior citizens and the less fortunate for 28 years. Originally held in Fort Worth, Texas, Raul Jimenez moved the event to San Antonio in 1979 where he served thousands of people free Thanksgiving dinners at his own expense. Jimenez passed away in 1999, but the rich Thanksgiving tradition continues on, thanks in part to Raul's daughter Patricia who now chairs the event. www.rauljimenezdinner.com

Elf Louise Toy Project : Elf Louise Toy Project, San Antonio, Texas. What started in 1969 by Trinity University student Louise Locker to help 13 families has grown into a year round non-profit organization staffed by 4,000 volunteers. More than 21,000 children in 5,500 families will benefit from this grassroots campaign. Funded entirely by donations, 98 percent of funds go directly toward purchasing, wrapping, and delivering toys.
